Zak Waipara has worked across children’s books, comics, newspaper graphics, motion graphics & animations and lectured in digital media.  All of these varied interests converged in a transmedia project (animation, comic, and interactive game) which Zak recently completed as part of a Masters degree at AUT.  This transmedia project, Tales from Otea, is an original story for children that draws upon Maori mythology.  He is currently Programme Leader of Animation College’s new Bachelor of Animation Degree and teaching the Narrative Studies paper.

6:55 pm  Sums Selvarajan introduces Chromacon Arts Festival 2015 and Chroma Connect.  Both great places to meet potential creative partners.

Chromacon is an indie festival of visual arts held in Auckland, New Zealand that celebrates the coming together of creativity innovation, artistic excellence and community. Freely open to the wider public, this premiere event connects all New Zealanders with the best homegrown illustrators, comic artists, designers, animators, videogame developers and more.

Chroma Connect is a multi-disciplinary creative industry summit focused on professional development and the cross-pollination of ideas designed for all those who contribute to the creation of engaging visual narrative experiences – from artists, designers, writers and developers to educators and students, producers, entrepreneurs to business/ governance decision-makers. Our inaugural summit features an awesome line up that includes local industry leaders such as Laura Dubuk, Paul Tobin Art and Design, and those cool guys from Mukpuddy – just to name a few. Also not forgetting our four special international guests speakers: Wenna, JAW CooperJacky Ke Jiang and Benjamin.
